A look back at 2009
(A year we are glad to have in the rear view mirror!)

Stop. Take a deep breath. And smile. 2009 was a year few will look back upon fondly, but you've won! It's over. You've beaten one of the worst years in the history of the staffing industry, and things are definitely looking brighter for 2010.

At Haley Marketing, 2009 was a big year for us. In case you missed some of our free resources and company news, here are a few of the highlights:

The Year of Giving
12 months ago, we decided that the best way to deal with the recession was to help others be more successful. We made the decision to give away more ideas and more expertise free of charge than ever before. Here's a recap of some of the resources we offered:
  • Free Lunch with Haley Webinars
We made our webinars free to attend for everyone in 2009, and more than 2,000 staffing professionals joined us to learn best practices in marketing strategy, SEO, social media marketing, email marketing, cold calling and sales management.

  • Marketing Best Practices Guide
We wrote a 40 page book filled with marketing ideas for staffing firms and gave it away to more than 1,000 staffing firms.

  • Staffing SEO 101 Guide
We also wrote a "how to" book to show staffing and recruiting firms the best ways to optimize their websites.

  • Ask Haley
We produced 39 Q&A emails offering practical tips for solving marketing, sales and recruiting challenges, and we wrote 273 blog posts.

More Innovation
At Haley Marketing, we've always prided ourselves on bringing innovative marketing ideas to the staffing industry, and last year was no exception. Despite the downturn, we continued to invest heavily in product development. Here are a few of our accomplishments:
  • Why Staffing Now? Door Openers campaign
This new addition to our family of Door Openers 13-week direct mail campaigns focuses on the reasons why employers should use staffing services, especially in a lousy economy. It produced great results for dozens of staffing firms, and the campaign won a VOICE award from the American Staffing Association.

  • New SEO & Social Media Division
Inbound Marketing has become the hottest and fastest growing marketing trend, and in August Haley Marketing promoted Brad Smith, a Certified Inbound Marketing Professional to Director of SEO & Social Media. Throughout the year, Brad has been helping our clients achieve amazing results--getting listed on page one in Google and driving significantly more clients and candidates to their websites.

  • Our Job Board Software goes Social
Haley Marketing's job board software is used by more than 150 staffing firms, and we just finished the integration of our software with Indeed, Simply Hired, Google Base, Twitter and Facebook. Now your jobs can be easily posted to your website, and then automatically distributed to job aggregators and social media. With these new features, you can eliminate most of what you would spend on job postings!

  • HaleyMail v2
After three years of development, we are just rolling out the newest version of our HaleyMail service. We've completely re-written everything to make HaleyMail faster and easier to use, to use the latest technology to maximize email delivery, and most importantly, to offer the most advanced email marketing tools and email tracking to our clients.
Not all the news was bad news
  • A record year at Staffing World
This was a record year for our clients at Staffing World who won a total of SIX ASA Voice Awards, including our 4th Best of Show winner in the past 5 years!

  • Sales are up...in some cases, WAY up!
For most of our clients, the bottom of the market hit last summer. Since that time, many of our clients have had tremendous growth – and quite a few managed to completely erase their deficits and end 2009 with BETTER sales than 2008!

  • New additions to the Haley team
    - Rick Bush: Director of Web Engineering
    - Todd Skinner: Project Coordinator
    - And our favorite additions: Emma, Isla & Eli
I hope you enjoyed this recap of 2009. Many thanks to you for continuing to read our emails and giving us the opportunity to be of service to you!

Let's make it a great 2010...and if you'd like help you with your marketing, just ask!
